In Ayurveda, the number one cause of dis-ease is making choices that disregard what we know to be in our own best interest. The word for this is prajnaparadha.
Example: You decide to start meditating before work to help you manage your stress. You know you need to get to bed early so you can wake up in time to fit it in. At 9pm, you ignore the alert on your phone, and dial up another episode. The next morning you don’t want to get up. You think, “I’ll start tomorrow.” This scenario repeats itself for weeks.
Meanwhile, chronic low grade stress is wreaking havoc on your physical and psychological well being. A host of problems, including insomnia, anxiety, high blood pressure, and a weakened immune system are linked to living in sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight) dominance.
